I know Abbie needed a new washer, and she might get a rebate from the government for purchasing it (sorry Canadians, this is a U.S. deal.)

I could use a new dishwasher, but right now it's not at the top of the priority list.

No appliances for us either.

My dishwasher hasn't given me any problems since an especially hard kick I gave it a couple of months ago, but I still feel like it's on borrowed time.

Thanks for the info! I've got a 30+ year old refrigerator that is no where near energy efficient. I'm going to look into this, as it is on it's last legs.

This would be really tempting as long as they are not requiring major

Hehehe I love it (sorry Canadians, Amercian deal only). Story of my life (*sigh*)

I can't really complain. Its not a rebate but the provincial government doesn't tax energy efficient appliances so its a small savings.

I have too check and see if there are any other rebate programs I can use! Thanks for reminding me!

Bummer. Just my luck. In the three years we have lived in our "new" house we have replaced every single one of the appliances! Now there's nothing left to replace (knock wood). We started out with one of those energy efficient high end washer dryers and I have to say they are wonderful. (Is it wrong to love a major appliance?) The City of Denver was running a $200 rebate for low water usage washers because it was during a drought and even though I had it delivered to our new house out of city limits I bought it at a Denver store so I snuck in on a technicality. Then came the dead microwave, then the stove/oven that blew up the night before Thanksgiving, then the frig and more recently the dishwasher which was leaking onto wood floors. All replacements are Energy Star and all paid for in full. Yippee. I put them all on those no interest payment plans and paid them off before interest kicked in. They really do make a difference in utility bills.

So I didn't qualify for cash for clunkers and don't need this. Sigh. At least we got our house refinanced through some special program that came out of stimulus plan. For that I will be eternally grateful.

Well no appliances, we did not buy a car or refinance the house.

Don't mention this stimulus package too loudly...Becky's appliances might start acting up and burping water all over her kitchen or something!

Norma - we accidentally bought a very quiet dishwasher. Had no clue it wouldn't be the mac truck we used to live with in our previous home. Wouldn't ever go back. Imagine. You can hear yourself think after dinner. Amazing!

Umm...I'm scared to read the OP of this...I'm not even sure I *want* to read it....I can NOT handle an appliance breaking down on me right at the moment.

Amazingly enough we DID get the dishwasher fixed but I'm just awaiting for the thing to keel over since the repairman said they sent a *different* part that is supposed to replace the part that was originally in there & it was kind of spliced together -- basically it sounded scary!
