Cash is flying out the window....

I just paid the bills for the rest of the month. I have mixed feelings about bills. I'm glad I can pay them, but I always wish they were less!

I did one good thing today though. I called my auto insurance and decreased the amount of insurance on my broken down car. I'm still too paranoid to get rid of the insurance completely though! The car is still somewhat drive-able. What if I decided to drive to the corner store for some reason and I hit somebody with no insurance! So now I just have basic liability on that car. I decreased my payment by about $30 dollars a month.

These are the bills I payed today:

DH's life insurance: $22
DS viola payment: $31.45
Gap Credit Card: $50 (Only $150 left!)
Comcast Cable: $183.72 (It's only this expensive because I had a service fee and an adjusted month of use)
Cell Phone: $86.32
Transfer to Savings (EF): $50
Condo Fee: $225
Dentist: $50 (only 125 left, I believe!)

Grand Total: $698.49

AND then it starts all over again next month! BLAH! I am desperately trying to get rid of bills. I've gotten rid of 2 recently, my car payment and my preschool payment. The next on my list is my Gap card and my dentist bill. This will save me $485 a month!

What bills have you gotten rid of or are in the process of getting rid of!

This year we have gotten rid of Kohls, Cabellas, Target, Meijer, Macy's, JCP, Home Depot, and dentist (2 crowns).

Minimum payments have decreased by $608 and interest paid has reduced by almost $400.

Having an eFund is essential to not using the cards, you need to have that cash alternative.

Store cards charge really high interest and usually have smaller balances for most people, so paying off those smaller balance cards goes a long way to total debt reduction.

I found that it is taking me just as long, about two months, to pay off my smallest card as it does these now larger cards because I have more to pay them down with using the snowball method.

I always have mixed emotions on payday too! Glad we have money to pay bills but bummed we always have to tally up what money goes where.

Either way, I am awaiting a dentist bill that should be fairly large. I go back next month to get my final crown and two cavities filled. This was a 3 crown and 3 cavity year for me teethwise but I am getting it done and paying it down! I think the final bill should be around $1,000 but I have paid $400 of that already. We have good insurance for dental and I have paid $100 / visit each time I go. If I pay another $200 for my last two visits I shouldn't have much of a balance.

I'm in the process of saving up the money to pay for all of ds's online classes.

Keep chipping away at the Gap and the dentist, your doing great. You'll have a new (used) car/van before you know it.

It is a great feeling to be able to pay bills when they come. I know I would panic if I couldn't. To Quote Gail VazOxley "We need to get to the end of the month before we get to the end of the money" And you have savings in there too so that is being ahead of the game in my book!

The next thing I'll have paid off is DH's hospital (emergency room) bill.
