I am new to this (and have a lot of debt to eliminate) but I made I wanted to share that I have gone 1 month without touching or using my credit card.

I know it's not that long but that means I have not accumulated new debt in the last month. It is probably the first time in YEARS we have not used a CC.

I am very proud of that feat, as small as it is.

September DH and I will start eliminating debt. I teach and so I was not paid all summer and DH was out of work most of the summer but just got a promotion and will be starting in September as well-- so we are going to start tackling our debt.

I am excited and know that we can do it but we have a lot of debt (probably close to $85k in unsecured debt) and I know that at times it is going to FEEL like we will never get out of it on a teacher and chef's salary.

Thank you for all your support thus far. I hope to participate more in the discussions as we begin our journey to financial freedom!

If you have never done it before, of course it is a big deal. Congrats, you sound excited about it too which will only increase as you continue. Such good news!

Your achievement is definitely not small and I say congratulations and everyone should share the little and big milestones here. It feels extra good because no one can understand what a big deal our accomplishments are more than the other people on this BB--we all have common bonds :oD
