This is the most money I have had saved in....years...multiple years! I am so happy! I don't really know what to do with myself! How do I keep myself from using it once I do get to the thousand dollar mark? I have a feeling that I'm going to treat my savings like I treated my credit card and have a hard time not touching it. Of course this money has been very hard to come by. Maybe once I reach my goal and realize how hard it has been to save a thousand dollars I'll rethink my tendency to overspend.
On a good note, we got free tickets to go the fair today from DH's job, with free food and everything. Saturday is DH's surprise 30th and all my friends helped me out with food so all I have to do is spend about 50 dollars on cake, decorations and odds and ends (although DH is making my blood pressure raise right now...yelling at me to get off the computer!) We have a party to go to on Sunday which may cost some money as everyone is chipping in for the food that the Host is buying AND a BBQ on Monday that will be free because it's at MIL's house. WHoo! Busy weekend!

Wow, that's great! I know what you mean, too, about keeping yourself from spending it once you get there. :) Maybe once you're there, make a goal for yourself to get it up to the next level -- $1,500 or $2,000? You don't necessarily have to push yourself to build it up, but if you have that second milestone in mind maybe it will keep you from thinking that money's there to spend, KWIM?
Sounds like a fun weekend you have planned -- enjoy!
Great Job Abbie- I ask the same questions myself.
