Just wondering if anyone is into canning and what they have canned this year? so excited about my stock this year:)
so far I canned/froze
pasta sauce,tomato paste,salsa,chutney,beets,dilly green beans,pears in brandy,pear jam,pear vanilla jam,chocolate pear jam, mint jelly,candy apple jelly,mint apple jelly,blueberry jam, carrot cake jam,peach marmelade,pickles,pickled veggies,pickled carrots,peach sauce, and still going:)


I can and jam every year. I mostly do fruits, my mom grows and cans veggies and we swap. This year I have only done up apricot jam/syrup and canned peaches so far. I will be doing up more peaches this weekend. I also like to dry apples for the winter. Chocolate pear jam sounds good.

Just noticed the fruits you are canning.
I have not canned any this year or for the past several.

All you really need to can is a large sauce pan/roaster, a xl pot for boiling the jars, something to lift the jars our of the hot water,jars and lids( I've gotten snap lids from the dollar store/after canning season sales. if your area has freecycle you can get all that for free( which is what me and a friend does for jars:) I do jam while cleaning the kitchen up
