Great post and sums up exactly how I feel sometimes.
I think tied with that though is the fact that it is important to not feel so overwhelmed by your debt and other problems that it just seems hopeless.
Well I have always cared, always had a spreadsheet and documented total net worth. That didn't help issues that happened from a divorce, houses that didn't sell and a husband that didn't like to work.
But KY, you are right that there are a lot of people who just don't really know where they are financially, don't really look at the total amounts they put on credit cards or hope that tomorrow will be a brighter day instead of taking control today.
Sometimes I wish DH was as hardcore about spending as I was, but he does make more than I do, pays our household big bills (mortgage and utilities) with a bit of my help. But he is the one who shops for good bulk meats at Costco, the one who helps with the garden, who keeps lights turned off, who made me sell a giant house and move into a smaller one.
He so believes in our better tomorrow, I just need him for that too, in order to keep my scrouge intact.

Do you know Mary Ann, you are such an inspiration to me.
Hi Mary Ann,
A couple of years ago I posted feeling a similar attitude. A lady wrote back that it was understandable as dh and I had been working so hard for so long to pay back debts. Her summary was that we were tired out from thinking so hard, planning so hard leaving us depleted.
She was so compassionate and enlightening as that had not occurred to me.
I need to let you know two things. You have shown me so much care over the years, I have never forgotten your kind words.
Second, I can not get over how quickly you have paid down your debt. My goodness, it's down right shocking how close you are to the finish line.
It's got to be difficult because you have proof in your snowflake numbers, that you are fighting so hard to pay this debt off once and for all. I hope you can take time for yourself this weekend to just look back at your hard work and get some much deserved R & R, even if it's just a mental break.
Hugs to you girl! You have come a long way baby!!

I admit I tend to sometimes twist sayings so I probably am, but recall one saying " You have not really failed unless you just give up and don't keep trying!"
Same is true in terms of debt.

Yesterday Raymond had to go out and wear a decent dress shirt He was running late and there were no short sleeve ones ironed. He had to dig out a long sleeve to wear. Because I can not stand and iron Half my clothes I don't wear anymore
I know what you would say How about just taking everything to a laundry Well that cost a lot. Good dresses they can't laundry sometimes and they cann't dry clean them either. Money to I don't have. But I would love to have a woman come in maybe every other
