Poor dental care not only affects your teeth and gums, they can lead to kidney and heart problems in severe cases. Get your priorities right; take care of your health first. There will always be the same holidays next year, but you only have one set of teeth, and one body.

This past May I went to the dentist after about a 16 month absence. I needed 3 crowns and 4 cavities filled. I was terribly upset. BUT, I vowed to take care of it NOW.

I have good dental insurance (thank God) and so far I've had two crowns and two cavities filled. I have the remaining crown and two cavities scheduled for the end of September. I vowed to make these appointments, deal with the mouth pain and never skip a 6 month visit again.

You can only move forward. You can't go back and wish you went to the dentist sooner. Out of pocket I will probably owe my dentist about $1,000 for all of my work. Thankfully my dentist will bill me and I will pay monthly - interest free. Perhaps your dentist can do this and you can pay $50 a month until the holidays and then pay the balance after?

I plan on paying my dentist at least $100 a month but more if I can afford it. They did good work and they deserve their money.

Hugs to you.

Haha! There has been some breakthrough with stem cell technology and it is quite possible by the time we need the third set of teeth, we could get "natural" ones. However, I can assure you it won't be cheap!

Take the $250 and run to dentist office. That is low for out of pocket for major dental work! We changed insurance again and it is crappy. I am looking at $650 for crown out of pocket. Last year it would have been $400 but policy allowed one major treatment per year so by time year rolled around new company. Plus, need a guard to keep me from grinding and that is not covered by insurance.
Save your teeth. Bridges and dentures are no fun and not cheap. So avoid a dental emergency now.My brother is on disability but had to buy his own dentures for $1,500.
As for holidays, more stores are offering lay-a-way.
