8 great months, then I blew it!

Well as of last week I reached my Baby eFund goal of $1,001.00 and had paid off over $16,000k of CC debt so far in 2009.
But aftet this weekend I am now in a major setback mode.
First of all, my mom had a heart attack last week and has been in the hospital.

We have to spend money sometimes. We don't want to just sit around in our houses and never do anything. It sounds like most of the purchases were planned. This is a journey, things wear out, things break, and events happen! Oh yeah, and we have to eat. You have been doing more than great. Keep at it. Sorry to hear about your mom. I know that can be stressful.
I am sorry to hear about your mom's illness and your cold, and on top of that, the stress from the imminent launch!
Most of your spending fell into my "must spend money" category:
1. family
2. health/illness
3. food
4. underwear
Even though I have some issues with my mother, when my parents need me, I am there. Doesn't matter I am 7,000 miles away. I envy you that you can just hop in the car and drive. And when you are not feeling well, you have to take care of yourself, too.
We always need food. Some elderly lady once said to me: you either pay the grocer or pay the doctor. It makes a lot of sense to eat well.
Lastly, I am OK, at least sometimes, to go with worn or ratty tops or jeans, but MUST have nice underwear! ;-)
Be gentle with yourself. Most people would have jumped off a cliff with all that stress you are going through.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she recovers quickly.

Also sorry to hear about your mom. I know how it is to be running to the hospital all the time I did for years with my mother. And Raymond too.
I hope she gets better and back at home soon.
Didn't look like to me you went out and bought any mink coats So I would not worry about it.
16,000 is a great deal of money in this house to pay on anything.

As someone else said, Life happens! I doubt if there is anyone who has ever totally decided to catch up their debts, made a budget and never waivered from it.
