Decision about Washer

The appliance people called me with a price. It would be $225 for the board, $156 for the labor and if the board doesn't fix my problem, then it could be my pressure pump $95 or some valve $44. So it would cost me anywhere from $381 to $520 with no guarantee that the motor may not go soon. We went to price new washers last night and of course we got the run-around from the sales people about energy star and water usage and how we should go with the washer that will save us the most money in the long-run, blah blah blah! Why do those guys always pressure you! It turns me off from buying.
I also took a look at craigslist and WOW~! They have some great washers on there! So now I feel like I have even more questions. On craigstlist, they have both stackables and regular washers for $400 and under. Some of them brand new. It was quite shocking! So should I just get rid of my machine entirely, even though the drier on top still works and get another stacked washer or should I go with the regular washing machine and put it next to my broken one. If I invest money in any kind of stacked unit, it probably won't work in my next house, although we may have to rent our house someday (who knows when it will be a good market for condo's again) and I'm sure having a washer in the unit would be helpful.
So many question and so many decisions to make, but I'm decided on buying used. Everything else will come to me I guess!

I think this is the way to go in your situation.
