Agreed on the second job commend. My getting a second job helped our debt repayment a ton and helped us build a solid efund so we weren't tempted to ever use our c/c again.
The only thing the article stated that I couldn't/wouldn't do is stop buying Holiday or b-day gifts for people. Maybe its just me but those are the "little things" in life that make life fun. I am not expecting some $300 purse for my b-day but a candle that my kids picked out cuz it smelled nice means a lot to me. They **thought** of me and that's a gift I want them to pass on to others. Plus, I'll admit that I like Christmas just as much as the next person because its full of fun surprises.
1. is the second job a minimum wage job and how many hours are you working, or are they above minimum? The only time I would have is to work 4 hours extra a day and at minimum wage with the tax bracket hike, it doesn't seem worth it (now my husband--since we file separately--he needs to get a 2nd job and won't).
Oh I love the bond or a book theory! I want to give my kids books this year too for Christmas. (I plan on starting for post secondary next year at an excellerated rate since they are in grade 7 and 4 already!!)
Still filing separately? Wow! Ok, tell me you at least claim the child and can get a tax deduction that way since you make more money? I'm sure the people in this article do not file separately. She home schools the kids and doesn't work. He has a spouse and 3 kids to deduct.
I can't even imagine working 12 midnight to 4:30 and a regular job. Now that is dedication.
Again it is that second job that is key to the acceleration.

Anyway, that's just me.
"that I couldn't/wouldn't do is stop buying Holiday or b-day gifts for people."
