Very excited about my snowflakes

So I'm trying to get my mortgage back on track. Each week I've been transferring the weekly amount it takes to pay it into my savings account but since I've been paying it on the 3rd or 4th week of the month instead of the 1st week, it's hard to make up the extra it would take to get it back on time and still stay on top of all my other bills. I decided to take any extra money that we may get, whether that's a bigger paycheck because of extra hours at work or money from DH's second job that he does occasionally, whatever it is, I've been putting it into savings and ear-marking it for the mortgage. I just paid the mortgage last week and already this week I have $584 dollars towards my next payment, $248 of that has been snowflakes that I've found. I think I am finally getting this concept of snowflaking. Yay! And next week I'll have close to $200 dollars to put towards it because DH is getting holiday pay! WHoo! I think I may be able to get my mortgage back on track this month! That's 2 months ahead of schedule!

Way to go! Keeping your mortgage on track and on time is so critical and once you get there - you won't allow yourself to fall behind again. Great job ! You should be proud.

And you guys were the ones to change my thinking! Truly! When I wrote a few months ago asking you guys how I should go about getting a new car and fixing my washer and paying my late mortgage, all with no savings whatsoever, you all got on my case and said "Listen girl, you need to pay your mortgage first!" And I didn't like hearing that because all I could think of was how I was going to be stuck without a car forever if I didn't go out there and get a loan quick! But I really wanted to do the right thing because there have been so many times in my life where I have done the wrong thing, which is what got me into my situation in the first place! So I thought really hard about some of the 'unwanted' advice I got. I know there are some wise ladies on this board and I wanted to do justice to your knowledge so I really analyzed my backwards thinking and that is when I decided that I had to do things in the right order, finally! Then God provided with DH's second job asking for more hours and I had the perfect opportunity. I started with my Emergency Fund and in less than a month, I had a $1,000 dollars saved! I was amazed! And more confident because if I can save $1000 dollars, I can do anything! So then I started putting money away specifically to make sure my mortgage didn't get any later than it already was and I started working on putting more money aside to help my mortgage get back on track and here I am! I'm only on goal two and I have about 10 more, but I feel so much more confident now that I can do it. I don't have to live hand to mouth anymore. It has been an eye opening experience (especially building my E fund and living on one car) and you guys can pat yourselves on the back because I really really really wanted to just go out there and get myself a car, a quick fix! But you stopped me! Thanks guys for all the support. I know that my debt journey is almost done, but after I write the last check to my last creditor, I'm still going to have to work on changing my thinking. There have been many times where debt has caught me again after I dug my way out, but this time I am changing that because I am changing my life! So thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This has been such a long, long struggle. A painful, debilitating journey and you guys have been here with me for the last year going through it yourselves. Where would I be without the support that I get here?
