October Financial Goals

Not sure if there is a person who usually posts this monthly goal log but I enjoy trying to predict and track my monthly goals so I wanted to get this started for Oct.

What plans financially do you all have for Oct? Snowflakes that can be predicted? Downslides that are coming up?

My goals for October are:

-- put $400 on remaining credit card putting us at only owing $1,200 !!!

-- DH's overtime for Oct should be around $700 so I plan on using this for my moms xmas gift ($125) and DH's b-day ($100) and then buying anything left that is needed for Christmas gifts. I'd also like to plan a dinner with DH for his b-day. A dinner out - WITHOUT kids. :)

-- Buy new computer with money saved (we have $1,000 set aside and hopefully we won't need this much.)

-- pay dentist remainder of bill that is owed. I owe him $27 plus whatever insurance doesn't cover from my remaining 3 cavities I had filled. I am "assuming" I will owe him a total of $100. That is a complete guess but when the bill comes in I plan to pay him in full and be done with him. (until my cleaning in Nov.....OY)

1- Not to have anything shut off or taken away, LOL

2- Take care of 20 items on my Christmas list. Or, shoot, let's go for making the 45 mark on the ol' ticker.

3- Make up some ground on my whopping miscellaneous expenses total. *argh* (Includes catching up past due bills if we can).

Hmmmm, October.........

My kids need Halloween costumes. I am going to take them to the dollar store and see if they will be happy with that. I am hoping to be done with Halloween costumes soon(couple more years as my kids are almost 13 and 10)and I don't want to buy any good ones. I will need some small give away candy for the store but that will be a store expense.

I need to start looking at costs for full winter gear for my kids including boots parkas, ski pants, mitts, hats, scarves. They need new everything. I need new liners for my boots and I should be ok. Plus we will need wood pellets for our pellet stove to burn so we need to look into those prices as well and we need more propane for a propane heater we have too. I have my curling fees I will need to pay set aside. We will probably have snow at the end of the month boooo!

October is property tax time here and at the store. I will need to write those checks. We have the money personally put aside as we have been putting money into savings all year for it. The store??? I am going to pay it out of my credit line and see how that goes.

Nov 1 we have our semi annual mortgage payment to deal with and I'm sure it will be fine. October is a 3 month pay period for the bf so what I really want to see is what is left over. I will be putting another chunk of money into the savings for a big student loan snow flake tomorrow but we want to see how October shakes out first with our extra expenses. Then we will put our snowflake on the student loan which I am excited about because this is the last personal debt in our way from really saving for a new house. Kicking that student loan to the curb!(it will take 2 years probably but still, it seems closer than when I had that big personal credit line) And by the time the student loan is paid our big car payments will be gone as well. Then we can really save!(unless the truck dies before then, ho hum, fingers crossed it won't).

I have told myself I must be happy with seeing my forced flake on my ticker in the middle of the month. Other than that...I am saving saving saving so if I run into trouble this winter with my credit line I can bail myself out.

Plus I think to keep my sanity and to assure myself all this is worth it, I will put $50 into my new housing saving category.

No wonder I don't sleep well at night with all this crap floating around in my head!! It does help to type it out and deal with it though.

Well, since I just started this exciting journey at the beginning of September. My main goals for October are

1. Continue following budget

2. Complete baby EF at $1000

I have about $1300 earmarked for cc debt in November and I can't wait to get that done. We will have a hard time making all the minimum payments this month....but at least I know that starting next month we will be hitting them HARD!! Good luck to everyone....

Hey All:

I did bump up the September Financial Goals thread a couple days ago in case anyone wants to check their goals from September. I could not remember what my goals were, but did surprisingly well. I was really pleased.

October Goals:
Pay off CC #1
Put $400 back into savings
Start Christmas shopping (this will probably add up to $100 max. this month)

Have a wonderful month!

My goal is to get at least $1300 into my sinking funds account in the month of October.

Today I will transfer $260. So $1040 to go.

Pay my mortgage on time, or before it's late, anyway! Which would be before the 15th. I'm not sure if I can do it. I have two kids birthdays coming up this week and a birthday party for them the next weekend. It will be interesting to see how much I can put away. I know that I'll have at least $150 extra to snowflake next week. After that, I have no idea!
