Quick ways to get cash

One of my cats is sick and the vet bills pretty much cleaned us out. Our E-fund was just about empty so I cleaned that out plus a little more. Now we have $41 to last us until Friday. The problem is that both gas tanks are empty ad DH commutes an hour each way and we don't have much in the way of food. I could make the $41 stretch for food because I just need things to make meals out of what we already have in the house. The problem is filling the gas tanks. I can make do with just a little gas in the van, but DH *needs* the gas in his car. If we use the $41 for gas, we don't have much for food and it probably won't be enough for the week.

DH is going to take some stuff to a pawn shop, but he probably won't get much. We also came up with a few DVDs we're willing to part with (there are quite a few more that I'm willing to part with but DH won't.

I suggested going through my jewelry to see if there's anything we could sell for the gold.

I really hate that things are this tight. Long term we're doing OK, but it really sucks when you're struggling to figure out how to get to work.

Oh hugs to you. I know this is hard.

What about a spur of the moment garage sale? Is there anything else you could sell?

What about a food bank?

Can family help for this week?

Good luck. I'll be thinking about you.

Man! I totally hear you and completely understand where you are coming from. Any way you can just eat what you have in your house. I've heard of this game where you have to make dinners with just what you have in your kitchen until you've eaten your pantry bare. I certainly bet I could do that right now. I mean, you have to have gas to get to work. That's a no brainer! You could always make it a Macaroni and CHeese/Ramon noodle week!

In the past I have had yard sales, usually make about $200 dollars. I've sold gold, cashed in old 401K's (DON'T) and tried to Cash in my savings bonds (Not worth it). The gold was the quickest cash, but I heard that the price of gold just went down! See if you can have a quick yard sale tomorrow morning (Sundays are usually pretty slow for yard sales, but you never know) I also like the idea of having your husband check to see if neighbors want yard work done.

Good luck and hang in there! Hang on tight!

If you have time, maybe see if there are older people who need fall chore kind of things done. Putting on storm windows, maybe if you do it in your own house you may be familiar with how to put that sheeting over windows, and things to block out drafts.

Putting away pots and gardening things for the winter.

Don't remember your age but was surprised to find the local Shell gas stations have 2 cent discount for seniors!
