I would say if you can do it by next weekend go for it. Otherwise, its gonna get too cold.
Make sure to advertise a lot! Flyers - cheap balloons if you can find 'em.
Also, if you have a 3 day sale I would say on the third day to half price everything. Or at least consider selling it for cheaper. Otherwise, you are wasting your time. IMO - if someone is interested I something of mine I'd rather sell it then give it away for free (which is what I do after a garage sale - give stuff to Amvets or something.)
Personally as a garage sale shopper - unless you have the original price tags on the clothes I would sell them for $2 or $3. I can go to Walmart and get a brand new shirt for my kid for $5.
Maybe you might get other advice but this is what I'd do. JMO as always!!
Good luck and let us know how you do. Over the summer a friend of mine had a garage sale and I brought some of my stuff over and I made about $120. I was so happy!!
You are probably still ok for the weather to have yard sale. I still go to them here. Like PP said you will have to have your baby clothes lower. I seldom buy clothing at a yard sale over $2 for my DGD, I pay $1 or less for things like sleepers and onesies. If they are really fancy name brand clothes in awesome shape you may want to take them to a consignment store instead. You usually have to wait a bit for your money if they don't buy them outright. At our consignment stores you get a better price if you wait for them to sell the clothing first. Also you will want to have most if not all your items priced. Some people don't like to have to ask about everything they may be interested. If you don't have time to price everything, set them out on tables and have a sign that states, 50cent table $1 table, $2 table etc. with your higher priced items having individual tags. If you are worried about weather, is there any groups (scouts, church, service clubs etc) having a big indoor sale where you can buy a table or two to set up? Then you get lots of traffic and they do the advertising for you. Good Luck however you decide. Sharon
I used to have at least three yard sales a year when I was in North Carolina because those people down there go nuts over yard sales. I have made a lot of money on them. Sometimes as much as 300.00 in a day
Can I give you a few tips. If you think it is going to be cool then have it inside in a garage or your living room. Just push your furniture to the walls and take all the little pieces out and cover the big stuff with sheets. Tell people when they come in that the sheeted stuff is not for sale. It works.
Hang up clothes if you can Ironing boards make great extra tables for clothes.
Keep everything at eye level. People hate bending down. Like things together. Put one big price on a table and that saves you from pricing stuff a piece at a time.
Have a free box. Buy something get something out of the box free. Like plastic cups and things like that. Or something that is not worth selling.
If you can go through your christmas stuff now to see what you can sell and put that out and say it is christmas sell.
I'm on the east coast as well but we've had snow twice now and I'm not sure I'd be ready for a yard sale this time of year. I think a lot depends on what part of the east coast you live in. If you are south then you may have better luck, but where I am it's down right cold.

I tried two garage sales in my life, and both were not worth the effort when I compared what I could get for just donating the stuff.
Weekends are at a minimum with us, due to teenagers and a cabin, so we don't want to be settled down.
We also do not want strangers around our home, casing the place.
