We're getting an expensive surprise, too

I haven't posted in a while and financially, things are going so-so.

But, like Sarah we recently found out we're expecting baby #4. We thought we were done and didn't think it could happen without fertility treatments. Surprise! The medical part should be no problem because we have pretty good insurance and DH can opt to contribute more to his medical FSA to cover coays. I breastfeed, so we won't be spending much in formula. We have two girls and a boy, so we should be in decent shape for clothes, no matter which gender. I still have all my maternity clothes, so I won't need a lot in that area. We got a new infant carseat when DS was born so we won't have to shell out the money for another carseat for a while. It won't get expensive until the baby starts to eat real food and if he/she is anything like DS it will start to get expensive.

If it's another girl it could be a problem because of the bedroom situation. The girls are currently sharing a room and if we had to we could probably put two kids in DS's room, but his room is pretty small, so it wouldn't be a good long-term solution. The baby will sleep in our room for a while, so that's not an urgent concern, either. We could turn our home office into a small bedroom, but it would require some construction.

Anyway, this isn't going to help our debt situation, but it's still a wonderful surprise.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! And if your DH is a wee bit handy with basic construction, let me show you something. Our kids' rooms are SO small - barely wider than the mattress and about 11-12' the other way, so DH built their beds up off the floor. We spent less than $200 on the whole project. It was fun - we sent them to our parents' houses for the weekend (let them shuttle back and forth) and did it as a surprise. Anyway, it gave them TONS of room. The girls had their own beds and shared by choice, so we gave them a full size bed instead. The boys each have a mattress up there in an L shape. Ignore the traces of John Deere on the wall. By the time I found out that I didn't have enough paint to cover it I did NOT care! LOL.

Yay! Congratulations to both you and Sarah. That is exciting! But don't pass on anything through the board to me. I'm all done with 3 kids! The bedroom ideas were great though!
