Ok we have not had one of these in awhile so here goes, I hope you are ready with an immediate answer.
You are doing great this week and looking forward to the weekend today but all of a sudden this morning 3 things happen:
1. An old friend calls that wants to go out for dinner (you know they are not wealthy and might be worse off than you)
2. The car is making a terrible noise and you get a sinking feeling
3. You open the mail and you realize your biggest CC or HELOC just raised your interest rate a LOT.
What do you do?

1. old friend: I would invite them for dinner and cook. That way we can still catch up and I had to cook anyway so it would not be expensive, maybe an extra pork chop and some rice? What ever I had would have to do.
2. Ugggh the truck making noises? It is fair that it would do that. It is old. I don't know what I would do. I need it for supplies for work. We might borrow bf's parents truck(they don't use it everyday) for awhile to decide what we want to do with it depending on what the garage says. If it was something minor we have $300 in the car maintenance fund. If it was something major we might consider something newer. That would totally derail our student loan extra payments but we need to get to work!
3. I have a floating rate on both my business credit line and land and building loan. I know the rates will go up sooner or later. I did think about this before I set my land and building loan goal and decided paying it off sooner than later was in my best interest, pardon the pun. I will just do what I can with it. Then the credit line should go down in theory on its own. One thing at a time!!

1) This is actually happening, lol. I would invite for dinner as well. The point is to see each other and thats all that matters
2) Wait and see how bad it is. We have two cars and I don't drive mine a lot so if one went down we could survive for a while. I take the bus to and so its doable for a while.
3) I would opt out. My biggest CC is the car payment CC. Its essentially cancelled anyways (I cut it up and just pay down the CC) so it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Good fire drill!

I would suggest somewhere cheap where we could sit and talk and order cheap food, have coffee all night.
