Condo Assoc. agreed to a payment plan

I guess the reason why they finally sent me a threatening letter was because they just hired a new financial officer and she noticed that nothing had been done about my account in a long time. I finally got a hold of her and she said that she had just sent the letter out to see if I would call back. They didn't want to have to spend the money on collections or lawyers or anything. She was very nice and said that since I called they were more than willing to work out a payment arrangement with me. She was able to split up the payments over 6 months. This equals $150 dollars a month. They could have done less than this over a longer period of time, but then she would have had to put it in front of the board and have it approved. I can handle $150 dollars a month for 6 months. My last credit card balance is at $50 dollars, my dentist balance is at $20 and my doctor's bill is at $35. I'm looking at being able to pay off all of my debt except for the condo fee by the end of this month! YAY!

So for all of those ostrich's out there...it's better to call because they might be nicer than you think! Oh and they stopped the fees as well!

Well....I still owe my parents a lot of money, but as soon as I'm done with my debt, I can focus on them. And thinking of this next year is kind of overwhelming. I have my oldest son's braces to pay for, but I'm thinking about using my Flexible Spending Account for that. That way, the money will come right out of DH's check and it won't feel so much like we're spending thousands at the orthodontist. Then there's Christmas to think of and a car that runs and getting the cars registered and if I think about all of that, I could switch back to ostrich mode, but I'm taking my debt journey one step at a time. Right now, I'm focused on getting my concrete debt out of the way and that will be done in 6 months or less!

Such good news on all fronts Abby. I am so proud of you for staying so focused! Also it is awesome you phoned and got it all figured out.

You are doing it right you know.....focusing on one step and section at a time. I think that is how most people get into trouble in the first place because they get so over whelmed and become apt ostriches with what is on their plates. Small bites can be chewed more easily in my opinion.

Wow! Great news. Good for you for focusing one step at a time. I agree that it's the only way not to become overwhelmed. Keep focused and you will be debt free in no time. Just think how much easier it's going to be to take care of your upcoming expenses when you are not paying credit cards!
