Yesterday I received a letter and the writing looked familiar but I couldn't place it...

There it was a money order for $100.

I had lent a friend a fair chunk of money a few years back and then she disappeared.

No I think she knows I wouldn't try and collect...

I think she's prolly feeling ashamed but I just want her to be OK

Money is just money in the end....Maybe in time she'll let me know...

I heard from another friend that bumped into her that she was still having a hard time...hopefully in time she will reconnect

I know the only way to actually loan money to friends and family is to accept that the money might not be paid back or paid back the way we expect.

Sounds as though we may have the same relatives

Oh a little unexpected bonus never hurts. Are you going to put it on your debt Duke or go to the opera? I'm just jealous you live in a place where that is actually offered really LOL.

Not many people have ever asked to borrow money from me and that is good because I think this is what happens:If they actually qualified for a bank loan they would not be coming to me and that means they likely cannot ever pay it back. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't in this situation. If you say no, they are embarrassed and distance themselves from you and if you say yes and they can't pay it back(I'll say 9/10 times),(even if you say it is ok if they don't) they distance themselves from you. So my heart sinks when this happens because I know I will likely lose a friend or not have the same relationship with a family member. It is not a good situation from any angle.

Hi there galstore,

I adore opera...it is my link to the divine and I am totally not kidding...

I have three subscriptions to different opera companies so that is already done...

I will put the small amount towards debt and bills...I'm learning from all you nice people but I dont think I can be as dedicated as all of you and I decided that's OK ...just means I'll be a bit slower...
