Selling a car

Does anyone have any advice on selling an older car? My father in law died two months ago in California. He had a 1997 Buick Le Sabre Custom which only has 55,000 miles and is in excellent condition. My husband had it shipped here so we could sell it rather than having to try to deal with it long distance. I called a broker I know who was going to look at it and make an offer but he flaked out on us. I suppose we'll detail it and put it on craigslist but I am skeptical it will work. Any thoughts? The money will be split three ways between my husband and his sisters.

I just sold my old car on craigslist. It was a good experience. The first thing you need to do is decide how much it is worth so that you can price it accordingly. I found out my cars' worth on edmunds.com. My mechanic highly recommends that site. You can put in the model and the miles and any extras it has and it will come out with a retail price, a trade in value etc. Then you can competetively price it. I sold my car on craigslist in 2 days! And it was broken down! Of course it was a relatively easy to sell car being a toyota corolla. Try it out. The worst that could happen is that it doesn't sell.
