I took a second job doing retail inventory (job starting at retail stores usually at 9 p.m. when they close and getting out at about 2 a.m.) and then I lost my daytime job so now the second job is my only job!
In a way I'm thankful I took the second job because now I at least have one even though the 2nd job pay is far lower then my other pay used to be. It's something!
I am working at a dog grooming salon on saturdays, and every second friday. Its hard but it is doing wonders for my debt repayment! Physically I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep it up, but even if I do nothing else then pay off my Appliances it will be worth it!

My husband has a few different second jobs. We feel really lucky to have these opportunities to make extra money when we need to. What makes his jobs so special is that they are totally flexible jobs. His first job is with his former employer. When he left, he left on good terms and told them that if they ever needed him to help out, he would be right there for them. SO when they are busy and they need extra drivers, they give him a call to see if he's available. They have busy seasons, the summer and the holidays. His other parttime job is strictly a holiday job. We looked in the newspaper one year and found this Christmas Tree distributor looking for drivers. We now know this guy pretty well as it's our 3rd year with him and the longer you stay with him, the more he trusts you and calls you in to work. So DH sells trees for him at those little roadside stands and also drives trees to other locations and helps unload. Both of these jobs are hard labor jobs though, not too great for women! I know I couldn't do it! But keep the lines open with former jobs. You never know when they may say yes to you working part time for them.
I've been contemplating getting a weekend job for the holidays. A couple of my favorite clothing stores are advertising, but then I'd have to worry about babysitters and I may spend more money on traveling to grandma's house to drop off the kids than anything else! I think I'm just going to focus on filling up my extra day with piano lessons.
I've debated getting a second job, in order to boost my retirement savings.
