Efund is short for emergency fund. A big help in working to get out of debt is having an emergency fund in place in case unexpected expenses come up like a car repair, broken appliance, etc. The efund lets you pay for those expenses without adding to the debt total by putting the emergency expenses on a credit card. A lot of people aim for a small efund of around $1000 or so. I have found that it really helps to have one because it keeps the stress level down when something comes up because the money is there and I'm not trying to figure out how to work yet another bill into the budget. We funded ours by having a garage sale and then just adding a little from each of DH's pays from his second job. HTH.

Ok, guess I should've thought of that. I like the idea about funding with garage sale. Right now I am currently cleaning out tons of stuff here (specifically all the practically new baby stuff) to put on ebay or craigslist and try to come up with some extra Christmas cash. Right now I only need to come up with about $300. more for christmas so I will hopefully have some left over to get our efund set up. When DH and I first got married, we took some of our wedding gift money and started a safety net, but as time went on it got used and never replaced. Thanks for the tips. I will keep checking back here and hopefully we can all be debt free real soon. Also, how do I add one of those count down tickers to my signature?

There are no dumb questions on this board (and if there were, I already probably asked them all.)

As the previous poster said an eFund is short for emergency fund.

Hiya! Most of the tickers here come from www.tickerfactory.com. The site walks you through the set up - free, no registration required - and gives you codes. (Debt reduction is currently at the top of the second column.) Copy the HTML code (you have to use HTML or it won't work) and go to your board settings on ivillage. That's on a tan bar under the name of the board. It will have "welcome, username" on your left and options including board settings on your right. Paste the HTML code into the box on that screen, then SAVE. It should show up on your next post. Good luck - they give us fits sometimes, but it's actually pretty easy!
