Feeling Discouraged

I am feeling totally discouraged about this debt thing today.
My daughters were invited to a birthday party today. It was a skating party. The last time my youngest daughter had on her skates, they fit. Today they didn't. Poor little thing couldn't even get her foot in the skate. She was so disappointed. I thought about going and buying her a new pair. But I didn't, partly because I would have had to use a credit card or used savings to do it. The other part was that by the time I took her to buy skates, got them sharpened and both of our skates on, the skating would have been almost over. She was fine in a few minutes, but I truly felt so bad.
Then when I came home, I noticed the things that I am usually able to ignore. The fact that our living room has no furniture because we haven't had the money to buy it. I dislike our kitchen cupboards, our carpets are dingy...
It's so hard not to give in and reach for the credit cards at times like these. Ugh! Good thing that shopping with the kids is not fun, or I really think I may have gone and purchased new furniture.
I need to remember that it will be more enjoyable when I have the things taht we would like if it's paid for, rather than on credit.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Vent away. Sometimes we need to give ourselves a pity party.
Ok - when you are done remember - YOU have SHELTER. Family and love. All those things are things that are irreplacable.
You did the right thing by not putting new skates on credit. You are making wise decisions and your kids see those wise decisions. :)
