I think I really need to celebrate this(other than this life seems sort of hard going right now).

That is so great congrats.

It is one year for me too on the land my bf and I bought. November 1st was the 1st year anniversary for our monthly mortgage payments and our semi annual payments. (we pay more twice a year because it is a two part mortgage. The mortgage is for 24 more years!! I will be 59 years old when it is paid off. LOL! I am aiming for sooner but I would like to save up for and add a house to the mortgage as well at some point (hopefully in 4-5 years). Then, we will start paying it down faster as well as starting a retirement fund.

The best part is we rent out our land. After it is paid, we still get rent. It is also part of my retirement scheme.

I think they sometimes say the first year is the hardest and I am hoping that is true!! If so then I should have pretty smooth sailing, of course with a house as old as this, who knows!!

Given the way the economy has gone since then I think it was probably close to the time when getting the mortgages became MUCH harder!!
