Does anyone have a deal with friends and family that says that gifts don't have to be new, just really cool and useful?

I do that, my family knows I am an avid yard sale & thrift shop person.
I find things that I would never be able to afford for them otherwise, I do try to make sure that it is something that is very unique. I also like to recraft items for friends and family. I had a book years ago on how to recraft grownup clothing into childrens clothing with very little effort. I made some wonderful clothing pieces for my kids.
I do like the idea of having the story along with the gift.

My family wouldn't jive with thsi policy but I am giving my kids some garage sale stuff. I got a bike and helmet for my DD and she will LOVE it. It was $10.

Also got my kids a joint gift of a puppet theatre. It was $5 and I bought puppets for it and they will both adore it.

Kids that are 2 and 6 have no idea where their toys came from and that's FINE by me.

I never seem to find anything at yard sales and out second hand stores are really expensive. A boys pair of pant are $8 when I buy noew for $10- , toys are the same, it doesn't make much sence to me but i guess they have to make money.
