Since Oct. I have made some really interesting observations about money and myself that I truly think will help me in my debt journey...(Warning..long post)

Great post, Duke. I have no doubt that you will conquer your debt and once you do, you will be in a great financial situation. As well, it seems that you are wanting to be content with what you have instead of always wanting more. This is something that I have had to work in in the past few years to get over my debt hurdle.
Congrats on your realizations. It will be interesting to see if others post things they have discovered about themselves, too.

Yes! Excellent realizations! I have particularly struggled with feeling content with what I already have and knowing if something is a need or a want. I live in a small apartment with a family of 5 and sometimes it's really hard not to wish for the big house with a large back yard. I have had to realize that I am blessed simply to have a home because there are many people out there who have nothing.

Good Post, Duke Man!

I like this post because I am in it LOL! Just kidding! a lot of people blindly pay down debt and have no idea why they are doing it. They often skip this step which I think is a vitally important for not getting back into debt after they pay everything off. Some do not take the time to figure out what makes them tick and over spend. You have adequately broached this subject for your self and it bodes well to your future. You didn't mention it specifically but I think you have also gotten the #1 rule to paying down debt and building wealth. SPEND less than you earn. It really is that simple but evades most of as life carries us away.

Ummmm, I would really like to see that ticker under $50,000 before the end of year or at the latest January 31, 2010. Wouldn't that feel great! Very doable without taking a second job. Have you set any small goals yet with dates attached to them?

I think you have done tremendously well with your house and retirement savings. You can build on them and make them worth every penny When the 51,960 is gone.

I totally pictured you with a cat.

Again, great post.
