Tug of war with myself

DH needed 4 new tires on his car and we used this past paycheck to pay for that. Instead of putting $400 + on our c/c this month we put $120 on the card and paid $450 for tires.

I am thankful we were able to pay for tires for DH without having to dip into our efund or really strap ourselves but then again we are SOOOOO close to being debt free it kills me. Our c/c has $852 left on it ($732ish now with the payment) but I am so annoyed with not being able to pay half the balance on it.

Also, (sidebar here) I need a new winter jacket. Go a warm one at Kohls. Was on sale for $80 - had a 15% coupon so it was $73. Plus I got $10 in "kohls cash" which is good for another purchase. I am so debating if I should keep the jacket or not. I DO have a jacket - its not nearly as warm as the one I bought but it IS a jacket. (I live in Chicago - cold here)

Just wondering sometimes if I'll ever feel "financially free." I am so close to paying off

Put the jacket on and call it a day for the love of Pete! You will likely wear the jacket for the next 5-10 years. You didn't even have to dip into the efund for the tires? You are laughing! Laugh at the debt Beeps--Maw ah ah ahhhhhhhhh. Sorry, I'm ok now LOL!

Deep breath and don't be so hard on yourself!

Tires & a nice warm coat for such a cold region are both very logical purchase to make.

By the way, DH has to fly into Chicago in January for work.

Keep the coat, being warm is very important. Especially in the colder climes where you seem to get cold right to the bone and it's hard to warm up again.

I seem to recall -22 wind chill here just a few days ago & it's "hardly" winter yet...I vote for keeping the coat -- you know it's going to get COLD, deep freeze COLD and stay that way for a while.

I'm assuming you will wear the coat for several years -- say 5 years (probably longer if you are like me).

Then if you are actually downtown Chicago, I think they do something to the air there that makes it about 10 - 20 degrees colder than out in the far suburbs (Actually...I think it's just the wind!!

I agree with everyone! Keep the coat! You can't put a price on being warm! I think I need a new winter coat. I have one that is decently warm, but its old and has lost some of its warmth. I can imagine the frustration of being so close and not being able to pay it off, but hang in there! You can do it!
