He did his buddy day on Friday and he had his student interview. Of course he can't remember a thing that he said! Today I have to call and see if we qualify for the test voucher and then I'm going to sign him up for the test. Then I have to start working on the financial aid paperwork and the application. I have an appointment to look at a private Christian middle school in our town, but they sounded a little too strict over the phone. Doesn't hurt to look though. There are only 2 other private schools that would be available to him, but the problem is that they are Catholic elementary schools that go up to 6th grade and then go on to Junior high for 7th and 8th. So I'd be switching him to a different school for only 1 year? I don't know...but I'm going to check them out anyway.
I've heard of a Charter school but I'm not sure what they are. I'll do a search and see if there are any in my area. One big concern of mine with schools is that they have to be close because I can't be driving all over the place everyday and paying more for gas on top of paying more for school.
I saw that place. It looks amazing. If Derryfield doesn't work out, I may keep him in public and look into that school for 7th grade through 12th! That is right up his alley! Derryfield is not getting back to me about the fee waiver for the SSAT test. It is driving me crazy because I need to sign him up for the test soon!
Eek! We didn't qualify for the waiver. They go by the School lunch program guidelines and we make 25K more than those guidelines. It makes me wonder how much financial aid we'll actually qualify for. I called the school and they said that if they still had fee waivers left by Friday which is the last day to register for the test, then they would give me one. But now I don't know whether to wait or try to find the money elsewhere...$110 dollars by the way! If I wait and then the testing is full, I'll be in big trouble because his test scores won't get in on time and he'll be moved to the 2nd wave of acceptance recipients which is also the second line of financial aid awards given. There may not be much financial aid left for the 2nd string. Should I wait for the waiver, which may not be available and risk that he won't get in or should I try and get Grandparents to help? Just one more thing on my list of obstacles! And just one more bill that I can't afford to pay. This makes me wonder...where in the heck am I going wrong? If I make 25K more than the guidelines of who is eligible for a waiver for a $110 dollar test, then am I considered wealthy enough to apply to this 22K a year school??? Where is my money going? Why am I so broke all the time. So annoying! I mean, I know why I have no money this month, I just registered 2 cars at 600 dollars, paid $200 dollars for one car to be fixed, I bought about 300 dollars of Christmas presents on top of all the other extra bills I have to pay this month. All of my extra money is gone!
Abbie have you looked at any of the Charter schools?
Hahaha...that's funny that he can't remember what he said.
Your son is into science right?
I'd go with www.asdnh.org
Wow, I'm so sorry Abbie.
