So, I feel like I am loosing it! I am loosing any grounds that I gained over the past few months. I have finally gotten all my cc payments current and my mortgage was on time, so the next step was gonna be to build that WONDERFUL efund!!! But no!!!! Christmas happened, and even though I was mostly prepared (way more prepared than ever b4) it still has kicked my butt!! So, now my mortgage that should have been paid by the 15th of this month is being pushed back to be paid by the 31st and I am counting on "gift" money from my parents....b/c when the 31st comes around, I will have to pay 2 mortgages at once (b/c I just refuse to be off track in January) Anyway, not sure why I made this post......maybe b/c I am just disgusted.

And I get a call from my aunt asking what I was going to bring to our Christmas lunch (well, this is the 1st I heard about it so I have to figure out something to make, then of course that is more $$).

Hugs.

One of the first things that needs to be learned with cutting back/budgeting (and trust me I'm still learning this one) is that you should NEVER jeopardize your shelter/home. If you needed to pay your mortgage on time - you should have. If that meant less gifts for others - so be it. PLEASE don't do that again - for the sake of your family.

Trust me, If I told my family it was less gifts vs. my paying my mortgage they would all vote in favor of ME paying my mortgage on time. It's a tough lesson but one that is critical.

Hugs to you. Do you have boxed brownies or something you can make for the holiday lunch? I always have eggs & oil on hand so if you have something boxed you can bring that. Or dig thru your freezer. If its like mine - you got something you can find as an appetizer or something!!

Yes,Christmas does this to everyone so don't feel bad. Even those of us that think we had it all under wraps(Gosh I'm funny today). I get everything done........then I decide my present wasn't good enough for my bf so I buy something else! I bought a shirt for him and put it on my credit card!! I transfered the money already to pay it but still, it was unplanned! And don't even get me started on my terrible grocery bill. It is the most I have spent all year!!

Can you raid your pantry for the lunch? Be creative.

This is just incentive to start saving for Christmas 2010 in January of 2010.

Do NOT make your mortgage payment late again! Bad girl! hehehe!

Good luck and please enjoy your family a little this season, you deserve it!

First, BREATHE! then relax. Christmas is always hectic and stressing, but it is over so quickly. Although I know you are upset about being late with this mortgage payment, what's done is done, beating yourself up about it now won't do anybody any good. Just resolve to plan further next year. I suggest Christmas Clubs. i only had 200 in mine so still tough this year, but beginning with our Jan. 8 pay we will go back to putting in 25.00 a pay(bi-weekly) small enough we can survive without it, but big enough to make a difference (600.00/year for christmas fund). Right now things are really tight so in order to fund that and contributions to our e-fund, we suspended payments into DH's 401k (was 40/pay) - sucks cause it is company matched; and thankfully are paying off my acct at work so my pay will go up by 50/pay. Our goal is 50/pay to e-fund; 25/pay to christmas fund and 15/pay to budget. Wow, I got way off my response there - sorry. Anywho -- for last minute parties, I usually suggest a cake or pie, because can be super cheap and
