Are you making any resolutions for 2010? Financial, personal?

I think we all have the same resolution to STAY ON BUDGET! My resolution is to actually make a budget that I CAN stay on! I don't think I've had much success in the past!

1. Make a workable budget

2. Be more organized and de-clutter my home!

I'm going to be simple this year, no stupid lose weight resolutions because they always just make me feel bad! But I think that if I can get my home a little more neat and tidy and be more on top of my finances, it will make me feel better about everything in my life.

DH and I were talking about this over the weekend. Of course there are the debt-related resolutions (stay on budget, pay off car/big loan, $1000 efund, etc.), but those are more like goals than resolutions to us.

For me, the big resolution for 2010 is to take care of ME, on multiple levels:

1) With all of the stress of the finances, it's been easy to kind of let myself go. I need to eat better, get my hair cut when it needs cutting, take care of my skin and pamper myself more (at home, of course LOL), all the way down to shaving my legs on a regular basis (sad, but true).

2) I also have a tendency to put myself on the back burner and go without so that others can have...to an extreme. I need to balance that better.

3) I'm busting out of my job this year. I'm going to recognize my own value and worth, and find an employer that does the same. I'm no longer going to settle for less than I deserve. If I have to work hard in order to help support my family and get out of debt, then I need to be in a place where I'm happy, satisfied and have something bigger to strive for.

You should check out the flylady. It has been really helpful for me to creat more routines in my life.

Also, I have found that being broke in my case has meant a cleaner house because I need to stay home and deal with the mess/clutter instead of going to spend money especially on the weekend.

Financially, I'd love to pay off another 25k in debt, but I can't resolve to do it because it depends on a lot of variables, including finding side work to make ends meet! I do believe I can resolve to catch the bills up and, if nothing else, keep that darn mortgage current. Our credit scores are on the way up and our debt is on the way down; if we're blessed enough to continue that trend, I can't ask for much more.

I'll have to stick the weight loss goal off for after the baby is born! =c)

I was just thinking about posting this the other day.

My goals are:

- find happiness. I love my family - DH and two awesome, healthy kids but I think something is lacking in my life right now. Losing my job has made me very stressed at home - I feel like being a SAHM is MY JOB now and I notice I don't find joy in some of the things the kids do. I snap on them that its making a mess or its close to bedtime, etc. I want to work on finding INNER joy this year. I know I have some. :)

- we should be c/c debt free by February. I want to keep upping the efund and work on paying off my car. We owe about $5500 left on it.

- I am hoping by finding some happiness in my life I will lose some weight. This isn't a big "goal" or "resolution" for me because I know if I set myself up for it I might fail. But I want to work on eating better and making smarter choices. I think I am so overwhelmed sometimes with stuff that I just grab food from anywhere and munch on it. I want to be more wise with my food choices.

In my case, I count myself extremely lucky.
