Great thread...Resolutions, I've made some I love a fresh start in the new year!!!
1. Pay off Dr bills $3500 & pay off other small loan $4200
2. Add $4000 to EF in Money Market bringing the total up to $10,000
3.
Good post Kellie.
Personally I have always been a person who likes a fresh calendar upon which to set goals and plans to fulfill them. I usually have my goals for different aspects of my life outlined and revisit my personal mission statement every year around this time.
Since taking a course through Franklin Covey on Planning back in 2003, I look at planning by aspects or roles of my life to be sure it is in balance. Yesterday I laid out our plans and will now start to break them out my monthly goals. So here goes:
Wife -
To have at least 3 evenings a week to devote to talking to my husband, one of which should be total fun and exploration. (Just envision us cranking up our stereo to Styx and dancing around our living room with a beer or two.)
Mother -
To help DD finish her senior year in a fulfilling way, and get her into the college that best meets her goals and dreams.
To help DS continue to investigate career options and directions, while inspiring him to do good work in school and through volunteerism.
Marketing Director - To develop more in the area of social marketing, especially with the use of You Tube and PR. To create a strong analysis plan and gain a greater understanding of ROI on all items.
Adjunct Professor - To inspire my students to pursue their dreams with conviction and knowledge. Try to teach one course per term in 2010.
Entrepreneur - To develop a sales force motivated to provide funding to grow the business and generate a base for VC funding with job creation based upon motivated performance and a sense of community.
Volunteerism/Religion - To help with work prep skills as needed.
Personal finances - To pay down $20k of debt, save $6k in a 401k, $1k in stocks and $3k in an eFund - or toward a new (used) vehicle.
HomeMaker - To redo the laundry room, rework the pond garden in front, clean out storage areas and closets and possibly get new carpet.
Daughter - To visit my mom one weekend a month or as needed.
Physical - to walk 4 days a week at least a mile and look into a swim program.
Well that sounds like a busy year!

I should have weight loss on here but I am having a heck of time with this one. So I will say, continue with my walking and drink less, as well as make better food choices. I would also like to spend more time with BF but that will depend on his interests and hobbies and he has a lot on the go right now. I also need to learn how to mow the lawn to help BF. It is a riding lawn mower and I am scared of it LOL! I also need to do more for myself including at least one girl trip for a weekend and a pedicure or two this year.
Financial:
Look into educational savings programs for my kids and put something in there!
Pay off land and building loan(ticker)
Continue to pay down BF's student loan with him.
*I think this is all I can handle in 2010.
I ran across this quote today:

"Patience is the best remedy for every trouble"- Plautus
Resolutions
1- no more lending(giving) family members $$ of any significant amount.
2- taking at least one night a month with DH & I where we don't do anything for anyone but ourselves. Even if we have to park the cars on a different street so no one know we are home lol.
Goals
1- keeping to the budget that I have to get down on paper.
2- getting our cards and LOC paid down drastically. They are too high to even think about clearing off completely in one year.
Let's see....
1) Dental Bill paid off (hoping with tax refund) but if not definitely by Aug this year.
2) Save Save Save (efund back to $1000 and start getting the big savings account
What a great thread! I have not made new years resolutions in a long time, because I feel like I should always be striving for certain goals, however, after the disaster of a Christmas we just had, I have resolved a few things this year. I told my siblings that my new years resolution is to stop being a door mat. HAHA!!
Seriously, financially, I resolve to be credit card free (completely) in the next 2 months. We had it nearly all the way paid off except for the expense of work done on the van in October, but then dh used his card for all of his Christmas purchases including kid gifts. I'm happy to report that I used cash this year!!! WOOHOOOOO!! That should be paid off soon. Since we refinanced last week we don't have to make a mortgage payment until February. The new lender also required all of our homeowners insurance to be paid for the first year, so that is helpful.
I also resolve no more lending to family members NO MATTER WHAT!! Along with that goes yet another warning that we really wont loan out to anyone.
I could definitely stand to lose 20-30 lbs just to feel better.
My daughter is transitioning to middle school this year and is in special ed with a language disorder and LD. It's going to be the year of Michelle. I will be so happy 1 year from now to have this transition behind us.
I can't think of much else. good luck to all. Do we promise to revisit this thread 1 year from now???
