So, I was online making my cc payments (have 3 due this coming week). I was feeling good b/c on one I had a min. pymt. of 48.00 and paid 50.00, the other I had min. pymt. of 74.00 and paid 75.00 and then the Best Buy min. pymt was 15.45 and I was gonna pay 20. Well, the payment is due January 2nd so when I went onlne to pay it it says "pay the $15 rush payment fee to avoid a 29.00 late fee". It said if I paid it today it would not post to my acct until the 4th!!! Thats 5 days from now!!! gggrrrr! So, basically, when I made my $20.00 payment, my card was charged the 15 charge so its like I only made a payment of $5.00!! I understand that tomorrow is a holiday but I am not stupid! I know that once I submit my payment.....they CAN get it alomst immediately.......so why don't they?? So they can charge me the $15 rush fee. What they were hoping was that I would get the $29 late fee added to my acct and then that would push me over the limit and then they could charge me an over the limit fee!!!
I HATE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES!!! Once I pay these off............they will never ever get another dime of my hard earned money!!!!!!
Thanks for listening to me yell!
Amanda

I have never quite figured out paying bills online and I think this is the reason why. It always seems like somehow its not gonna do it correctly.
Did you consider perhaps next time going to best buy and making a payment? I know a lot of retail stores accept payment for their credit cards IN the store directly. At least I know Victorias Secret used to do that when I had a c/c with them right out of college.
I am sorry that you had to pay the extra fee.
Oh, Amanda, THAT STINKS!!!!

FLINGING DEBT:
They will do whatever they can to get more money from you. Sorry to hear it.
It will be great when you are out of CC debt and you don't have to play by their (seemingly daily) NEW made up rules.
That stinks ---
I use to get myself into trouble on stuff like that too - I remember way back when, my mom would become frantic and grab us kids up to run to Sears to pay her Discover card. I figure that is where I got it from.
I have my own set of due dates on my cards now. It kind of empowers me - so that the card is on MY terms and not theirs as to when I pay it. I moved most of my due dates up 4 days or so just so I know I have enough time to pay.
You still have time to run to the store --- did you pay it already ?
I hate parting with anything extra so I know you must feel bummed out -
Hope you were able to just pay what is due or flake a few dollars more and not pay what THEY want......grrrrr is right !!!

Moving the due dates up in your mind is the best advice. I do that with all my bills. Mine is 5 days except mortgage. It's not delinquent until after the 16th and I pay that on the 13th. My bank sends a wire on whatever day I pick. If I picked the 16th and that was on a Sat or Sun the payment would go out the prior Friday. Still, I think 3 days is ok for something that is wired. Otherwise I pick 5 days earlier.
And if you can, see if your bank has online bill pay. If you set up auto pay you cannot forget, but you do have to remember it's coming!
I hate credit card rules because they are so strict. Interest rates are super high for one thing and late fees are outrageous. Also, if you're late they can change the terms of your credit card including the rate.

Ugh, Amanda - that really stinks. It's disgusting, really. I second the PP on looking forward to the day when you won't have the credit card debt, and no longer forced to follow their rules!
Again, UGH.
