Ebay as a 2nd job Questions

I was thinking of selling stuff on ebay again.
Way back in 1998 I use to sell on ebay and made quite a tidy sum to help with the bills
I am in need of idea's of items to sell -- I use to sell Levi's (weird I know but it made money)

Is there anything that is a money maker ?- I have plenty of thrift stores around here to scrounge through -

I also recycle, I live in CA so we pay extra for soda cans and bottles. I used recycling to fund my summer trip (made $1,000)
Once baseball season starts I walk the field and collect the money - I mean cans !!

I just was thinking of other ways to make some money and appreciate any help !!

xoxo

I did this a few winters ago for christmas money, jewelry was a big thing, I always did mystery boxes, every time it went up by $20 more dollars I threw in another piece.

I would wrap each ring, necklace and bracelet up, same wrapping and sized boxes, mix everything up and just randomly grab. Some people complained they got more rings then anything else, it said right on my ad it was completely random and I explained how it was being done. In 30 days I made close to 2k, everything was real jewelry which I bought in bulk on ebay.

Someone once told me that old band T-shirts sell like crazy too.

I do well with two focus groups: books and baby items. I buy mainly nonfiction (cookbooks do really well, as do "how to" books) from the monthly library book sale. I have never lost money on books (but I'm careful about what I buy to resell).

Baby items do SO well. Those little rascals grow out of everything so fast. I have the most luck with new Carter's clothing (Gymboree sells well, but I don't have an "in" on buying it). Anything under 12 months almost goes for retail most of the time, and when I pay less than 10% of retail I make out like a bandit. Anything new for babies - not just clothing - sells well. I'm speaking as a seller and as a mother on that one, LOL.

Maternity clothes - new or EUC - also do well. If you haven't sold in a while, click on "sell" and they have this cool tool that lets you put in an item to see how many of them have sold recently and what the price was. You can't always tell if the one that sold for $20 was ONE or a lot of five, but you can get feelers out. Don't forget to check "completed listings", too - THAT will show you exact listings of what sold and what didn't.

Good luck!

We are thinking of using Craig's list to sell some bulkier items like televisions, computer monitors and printers.

DH uses CL all the time. Everything from a set of four used tires for $20 to vehicles - most things go within a week. Only two things have stuck around out of a couple dozen we listed there, and they're really oddball (axles from an army truck, for example). It's free, so you can't go wrong!

For a while I sold high end maternity clothes on ebay. I usually had Mimi or Pea in th Pod and did very well.
