I really let things slide over the Christmas Season. I wasn't planning how to spend my money. I wasn't going to the bank weekly to get out cash and therefore using debit card and credit card for convenience. Thankfully I did not incur more debt. I did stay within my Christmas budget, and I have managed to put some money into my account for furniture.
But, as of today I am back on track! I went to the bank and got cash. Thought about how I will spend my $100 this week (no fun stuff gas, groceries). I also went and purchased a new note book from the dollar store to write my budgets in and to keep track of my spending.
I am also trying something new. I am meal planning and trying to get some prep work done on the week-end to minimize that amount of time I need to spend cooking during the week and to avoid buying food that doesn't get used up and eating out. I cooked this afternoon for about 3 hours, including clean up and now I have 5 meals almost done.
Does anybody else feel that they are reinstating good habits now that the holiday season is finished?

Sounds like you are striving to do great things in 2010, good for you!
We didn't really go off track at Christmas as we were up to the cabin and costs for our recreation is really minimal as there is no where to shop.
I've got a number of New Year's Resolutions, but haven't really instituted them yet.

Happy New Year Kate...
Do you ever think of buying in small quantities and frequently....
I do this and spend about 325$ a month for one (but for about ten meals a month there will one to three extra people).
I buy fresh always but in very small quantities....
Just a thought....

Hi Duke,
I've tried it but, because I rely on public transportation, it's just takes too much time to purchase food.
