If you all only knew what I have been through the past 5 years (almost).
Long story short my credit is recovering slowly. I have struggled hard to get here but am proud of that because I have done it all myself.
Anyways I found an official looking envelope in the mail. One of the credit cards (I am $53.00 away from paying off) has increased my credit limit !!!
This is HUGE because it shows me my hard work is paying off.
My credit score is improving.
I check my credit every year (annualcreditreport.com is the real free one). It's paying off finally !!!
Next month I should have 2 cards paid off
Just remember there is hope. I cried and stressed and cried from the stress and now that I am through what I went through it's taught me so much and no more crying!!!
Thanks for reading
xoxo

Wow, wonderful story of perseverence.
One thing people in a divorce situation should know is that you can close cards if you write to the credit card company, send a copy of a divorce decree and ask that the card be closed.
I would have LOOOOVED for it to be that easy - to just sent the MSA (maritial settlement agreement) However, it took us many years to disolve the financial issues within our marriage.
My ex took no responsibility for that or anything for that matter.
Rather than let it all just keep collecting late payments and allowing my credit score to get lower and lower I took the inititive to start paying.
It was to my advantage because he ended up have to pay his half of the original balances at the time of our divorce and I had already been paying it off. Sears - actually was on of the few to seperate what we owed, but many cards could care less about who's is what and who owes what.
If I could have provided papers early on it would have saved many issues

Mine took less time because I TOOK ALL the debt, and gave him the savings.
