What a whirlwind of a vacation for me. I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off from December 24 - yesterday. Egads. Trying to go through and read posts and introductions.
So the good news. CC is paid off!! I was waiting until the SUV check cleared before officially announcing this (hehehe) but I am now happy to say its gone (I love looking at my online statement and seeing 0 balance!). My student loans are down to 30k! I still have the 1000 outstanding for the appliances, but that will be gone in 2-3 months.
The bad news: I splurged on myself over the break. I bought a new digital camera (mine broke and I was using ex-bfs until he moved out). I also bought a new TV for my bedroom. Needed? Absolutely not. Wanted. You betcha. I got a great deal on it ($399 for a 32 inch Sony) and am okay with the purchase.

OH MY....who's this girl posting with such a positive attitude?

Thanks Norma!
Sorry to hear DH is so under the weather. Make sure to take care of your health. Its absolutely a number 1 priority!!!
I hear you about the coat. I bought mine just in time. We got hit with a cold snap (its so cold the huskies don't even want to be outside!!!) There are things I will not scrimp on and warm clothes are one of them (I even got these warm mittens that make my hands sweat even when its freezing out . . . I love them!)
I just did my 2010 budget and its looking good!

Hey Bex,
So glad you are back!
I hope you are enjoying your new car. I also have a 0% deal with no plans to flake towards it. You will be better off saving in a high interest account when those appliances are gone.
If I ever got a new dog I would take it to classes. It also helps you personally bond with the dog(especially with another dog around) as well as them listening better.
I hope this year is fun filled for you and relaxing!
Missed you and am glad you are back!!
I kind of look at your TV purchase and the coat as Christmas gifts to yourself, and who is more deserving?
I am so inspired that you paid off all your CC debt! You deserved a little splurge on yourself...and paid cash, to boot. Good for you!
Would you mind reminding us what your total was originally and how long it took to pay off?
Dee
Thanks Dee!
My debt has been up and down for years. This is the first time in almost 3 years that I have NOTHING on the CC's and its a great feeling. It started when I bought the house and didn't account for everything ("wait, you mean garabge cans don't COME with the house???"). I also didn't understand that when I put the deposit when making the offer (3k) that I don't "get that back" (as in I assumed I would still take out the same mortgage and get the 3k back in cash ... oh I was a naive one I was!). Add to that 6 weeks without pay due to job changes, a miscalculation in what I was earning (my first pay was double what it should be . . . had to pay it back) and you end up with about 12k in CC debt in less then 6 months.
I paid it down aggresively, but never stopped using it. I bought a used car with my former BF (at a horrible interest rate). So I paid off most of the CC debt and then
