So many of you have taught me so much on this board.
I came here in July of 2008 with about $28,000 in c/c bills (spread out over three cards) and two car payments totaling about $16,000.
Today I made our FINAL c/c payment. Once it posts to the card we are c/c DEBT FREE. I am in shock and awe.
We have one car paid off and the other (my car) we owe $5,500 on. We hope to use our tax return to pay off my car in full.
Through all this I began by hiding debt from my husband, I got laid off and we had some ups and downs in our health. However, I'm so glad to say that my husband and I are closer now, we talk about EVERYTHING money related, the good and the bad. And....I am enjoying being home with my kids so much. More than I expected to be.
We haven't used our c/c's since July of 2008 and we have worked so hard to be where we are today.
I am far from leaving this board. I love everyones stories and althought I don't always post on everyone's topics I do think all of us are doing such an amazing job.
Thanks for sharing in my journey ladies!!!

Thanks for the positive words everyone!!
What's next for us? Seems like the bills don't stop when the debt ends.....LOL
Short term goals : my daughters preschool for next year will cost us $900. And our car insurance is due $600. (I can break that up over a 4 month period but I prefer to pay it all at once.)
Longer term : pay off my car and just have the debt of our mortgage.
Save money to extend our deck this spring/summer. I am "estimating" about $1,000 but I am not sure what that will actually cost.
Right now we have $3,900 in savings. I want to bank money like mad! So after my other expenses are done I want to SAVE SAVE SAVE and just learn what its like to budget and save money like usual!!
Congratulations!!!
