Yesterday I created my personal monthly budget for the remainder of this month using a form I found on Google docs.

Hi Lynn,

What a great first day! And look at you go planning lunch and snacks so as to avoid temptation. I vote you plan one day a week to get something at the store so you can look forward to it and not feel deprived.

I used to have a husband like your and I got rid of the him LOL! I am not saying do that of course! You have to find what works for you. My bf lets me do most of the budgeting but we have things together and things separate as well. We have a major car repair that will have to be paid for and he says he cannot hear me when I tell him to take the fee out of our joint bank account LOL! I know he has money from a 2nd job that he can pay it with but he does not always listen to me! Men are so funny that way sometimes. I do not look at his credit card bills and he doesn't look at mine(I hardly ever use mine but I know he does and pays it off with his spending money, I know he doesn't carry a balance so that is all fine with me)

You have to find what works for you and I keep myself accountable here too so I hope it stresses you less to have a place to go to.

Keep up the great work!

Great job Lynne! :) I know it's easier in the beginning because you're extra motivated, but if you work hard at it things like packing lunch and extra "just in case" snacks will become part of your daily routine. Maybe you could stash a non-perishable (or at least something that lasts a long time) snack box in your car somewhere so that when emergencies do pop up you're prepared? Granola bars, almonds, trail mix, something like that? Keep up the good work! :)

The emergency 'snack box' in the car is a great idea and one I'm going to implement.

Marie it feels GREAT to have the budget and telling my money where to go, at least it listens to me, LOL.

Thanks for the support.

Good job Lynne -- I def do agree with PP to let yourself into the store once in a while and stash food at work/car so you're not ever in need.... I used to do that & would have a large variety so I had something sweet, salty, crunchy and healthy lol so I NEVER had an excuse to go grab a snack!

Glad you liked the idea! Stashing snacks at work is a great idea too. One lady in my office is the queen of food - if anyone is hungry they go to her (but you don't need to share like that, lol). :)
