I think these are timed too since it tells you to "work quickly" -- Actually I think it's so you don't do what I do and analyize the question.

Two years ago, a super market was built in our county only 5 minutes from home.

Becky,

So sorry to hear about DH's job--unbelievable! As my 92 year old grandma always says, "Ain't it a kick in the pants?" Has there been any progress for him with the other jobs that sounded good last week?

As far as those applications go, I think it is best to just mark the box

Wow I have never had to take one of these tests - I do agree with goddess_mamawriter I think they are designed to catch the extremes and make sure you aren't someone who is going to go off the deep-end under stress.

Hang in there with the job hunt......and keep us posted.

I had to take one of those tests when I was 19 or 20 and I remember how ridiculous the questions were.

I have to recall every job I've had since I was 18 and every address for the past 8 years for my moral character application for admission to the bar.

Hang in there! You are such a survivor, things have to turn around for you!

I had to write one of those tests once. I picked the answers I figured they would want **based on the type of job I was applying for**. If it had been a different kind of job, I might have put different answers.

The most interesting thing about having to write that test is that the person who reviewed it (who owned the franchise of the company I was applying at) told me that there aren't really any wrong answers to the personality questions (obviously there's a wrong answer to questions like "do you do drugs"...). Because they company is looking for all different types of people, the test just helps them group applicants into different categories. It wasn't just to eliminate people right away.

Now, my question for you is, have you looked into working for a temp agency? That worked really well for me at one point in my life. Flexible, they find the jobs for you, and they pay weekly (mine did). Would give you a recent work history, reference, and possible a permanent placement. You might want to check it out since I am sure you have a lot of skills.

Hang in there!

There's an idea but right now I'm rather *grouchy* toward the temp agency (that's really who DH has been working for the past 2 years -- it was "temp to hire" -- which translated into "temp to oops, no work"..."crud, we need him back NOW"...."oh, oops, last in first out -- forget that we kept TELLING you we wanted to hire you on full-time".

I *know* that really isn't the temp agencies fault at all...but right now I'm a bit bitter towards them.
