Sinking funds are awesome!

Hi all,

I am finally at a place where I have a float in my sinking funds/planned spending accounts and its great! Yesterday I had to pay $60 for dodgeball. I was trying to figure out where it was coming from until I remembered I have an account that I drop $20 each week into for fun stuff for me. It had $80 in it, so I wrote a cheque and life was good.

Then last night after Toby chewed up a baseball (it was my sister's MVP ball from when she was 6, yikes!) we decided that obedience needed to be fasttracked. Happily, there is a class running at the community centre by our house for 7 weeks and it cost $76 (the private places want $150 for the same thing!!!). At first I was thinking I would have to forgo my gym membership, but then I checked the pet account and it had more then enough money to cover it, his check up next week AND

You were correct Kate, they are each part Husky. Kita is husky/retriever/shepherd and Toby is husky/retriever/kuvasz (I think, not confirmed).

In terms of fun, its an account I set up for myself for things like haircuts (I only get my hair cut once or twice a year, bad I know), new clothes or shoes, sports fees, etc. etc. etc.

What amazes me is how close your dogs are to each other colorwise!! Makes them look almost like siblings!!

Of course I might notice is more because dachshunds come in so many colors as well as 3 different coats and 2 (3 in Europe)different sizes but they are all doxies!!

US has mini and standard doxies in smooth, wire haired and long haired coats.

I keep my sinking funds in an ING account. They include:
1. Money for me (clothing, personal products, hair cuts, etc) 47.50 per pay
2. Christmas 37.50 per pay
3. activities for the kids $77.50 per pay
4. furniture, house repairs $200 per pay
5. other $315 in savings, but unsure how it will be spent in the future. If I have car repairs, it will come out of here.

A bit off topic...

You seem to know a lot about dogs...

I have been thinking about getting one to keep my sweet orange tabby company...

I've always wanted either a miniature collie (sheltie i think) or a pomeranian...do

To be honest some dogs get along fine with cats and some do not!

Hey Duke! I'm a regular lurker here, don't post much, but I had to jump in about the cat! I love cats! If your current tabby is a male, I would suggest getting a young female or mild-mannered young male, but do NOT get another adult male cat because there will be competition for the "alpha" spot. I don't know much about dogs as I've always just been a cat person :)

I always enjoy reading your posts. . . you round out the group nicely!

Hi Duke,

I just wanted to echo was Auntie had said. If you're cat has never been around other cats then your best bet is a puppy or kitten. I had two cats
