Yep, it's frustrating. I grew up in Canada, lived in the US (twice), moved back to Canada. I think it's actually better here? Unemployment is limited especially for those who are capable of working...they make them do retraining etc so that they are employable...And they sure don't get free food. And I'm pretty sure our gov't isn't giving people too much on their cheques, that doesn't even make sense to me in the long-term!
I know, I understand your frustration. I have 5 kids, I'm raising them all with no financial help (other than the CCs lol look where that got us!)...and then DH's ex has 2 of those kids 50% of the time & another 1 yr old...and she's living off disability (qualified for mental stress due to "panic attacks"...lol I have those 10 times a day!), the child tax benefit the gov't gives, and our child support...She's bringing in over $3,000 a month...DH has been bringing home $2,700!
All you can do I guess, is keep on keeping on with your head held high that you've tried to live your life the right way!

$700, wow that is a huge difference Marie! I can only imagine your frustration with it most of the time. I know we aren't in the same tax bracket or anything, and I have the 3 wonderful kids ;-) But I know there are months that i look at my bottom line of my check and it amazes me that after all the deductions and such, my paycheck starts out at around $4384 and at the end of it I get $2860. Probably not nearly as bad as yours obviously, but I frustrating nonetheless.
Oh I'm sorry, I just threw up in mouth a little there! That is disgusting! And now you got me started.
I have to pay taxes this year for my business all because I made that silly little things called a profit. Its like a punishment for doing well. Not only that but I will have to pay a certain amount to the gov every month from now on(unless I don't make a profit)so I don't have to pay a lump sum next year. I so cannot afford this right now and I don't know how much it will be yet. If my credit line goes over I have to pay fees and penalties. If I don't pay the gov so much each month, you guessed it, I have to pay fees and penalties.
I am wondering about personal taxes as well. This will be the first year I am claiming with BF. I think our only saving grace is he still has school tax credits. We might still have to pay and we certainly will next year. Ugh!
Keep your chin up darling. Your DD will not be in university forever and things will be paid down by the time she is done, so things will get better. Just keep doing what you are doing and revel in the fact that DH is on board now.
