Do you give yourself a weekly or monthly allowance? What about for your spouse?
If you've done this for a long time, do you give yourself a cost of living raise?

I give myself $100 a week for food, entertainment, fun etc. I have been doing this for two years and haven't had a "cost of living" raise, lol. I admit though, sometimes when I have extra in the budget I may take an extra $20 or $40 out. It can be hard, especially when I have a big week with groceries to make it all stretch.

We have a monthly "allowance" for ent - for the family.
I don't give myself an allowance bcs I am at home running a dayhome so I really have nowhere to spend $ (unless I take the dayhome kids somewhere but that is a sep. budgeted amnt)

DH has an "allowance" altho 90% of that is for his smokes (we're working on that...)...but he gets $40/mo for lotto tickets (and yes, this is cut down a LOT from before) and then $10/mo for whatever...he can get bfast @ work for $2.35 so that's usually what he "splurges" on.

DH and I are each budgeted $60 cash for the month. It has helped enormously with balancing the checkbook - DH would use the debit card every time he bought a fountain Diet Coke (his vice), at a dollar and change a pop, which was a real pain in the neck.

It's not a huge amount, but enough to keep us sane.

I suppose if I added up the cost of getting my nails done (every 3 weeks - $20.00) and my clothing allowance - that would be my allowance.

I am very thrifty with the clothing allowance. My sister hands down things to me and I buy a lot of my clothes second hand -

The amount I eat out has gone waaaaaaaay down and I would include that in my allowance as well
so I say my monthly allowance is no more than $100.00 per month

awesome !!!

DH and I get $125 a week each and this is for everything - lunches, clothes, haircuts, entertainment, most of our groceries come from this (unless we are planning a family BBQ or feeding of others like our Superbowl gathering next week.

If we get in a pinch for other bills we certainly pull from this as well too.

we have $250 in slush money each month that we decided to split as $25 cash each at the beginning of the month for incidentals (soda, gum, whatever) and when it's gone, it's gone.

Hubby and I each get $60 twice a month to be used for lunches out on our own and basic blow money.
