it is with trepidation I write this but I do need somewhere to vent and can't say anything to one single soul for fear of appearing cold.

I don't know if I mentioned it, but DH's grandma is very ill.

Hi Marie,

Glad to hear Grandma is feeling better. I hope she is kicking butt at cards. I love grandmas! Both of mine are gone now and one grandpa too. The other grandpa is 95 and still pretty spry. I want him to spend all his money before he goes. What a great guy! Other wise my uncle and mom will get everything. *eyeroll* I wish my mom was better with money cause she sorta doesn't deserve it.

I don't think you should feel guilty now or later. The result here is inevitable and you are really just thinking in your head anyway.

The fact is you don't know what will happen with the will. It could be very specific or very general. My guess is, it will be specific judging by the age of the people she leaves behind. If there are lots of cash/investments involved, the cabin may be gifted to all the gran kids and the cash to the parents(DH's dad and aunt) so they don't have to worry about another property. Have you thought of that possibility? Maybe a payment plan could be worked out with them to purchase their shares?

I have thought of this before because I am scared of it. My BF's parents own land and when they pass they might give it to bf and his brother and sister and I know BF would want it and we would have to buy them out. We cannot afford that right now. But hopefully that would not happen for a long long time. His parents are just not in the best of health so it worries me a bit.

Nothing wrong with dreaming and planning for those dreams to come true Marie. This does give pause for thought though in will planning of my own some day. I would not want to put hardship or undue stress on my kids. So thanks for posting it.

Yes, it did prompt us to make wills sometime last year.
