My first Wealth Watchers meeting

I had completely forgotten about it because it's been in the planning stages for so long (thank goodness for Outlook calendar reminders!), but a bunch of women at my office have organized a lunch-hour club called "Wealth Watchers".

Oh that does sound very interesting. I hope you get lots of great information for you and your daughter.

I have thought of actually taking some classes but what I probably really need to do is go talk to a professional. I'm just not normal! LOL! I am, of course, talking about the fact that I own land and a business. None of my other girl friends are like me in that regard so our savings and investments would likely differ.

I will go talk to someone eventually but for now, I will just plug away at the debt load and college savings. I would love to be more proactive than reactive like I have my whole life but I gotta dig out first.

I am so glad your french onion soup turned out! Mine did too and I made notes of my changes because i will make it like that from now on. I am curious to know if you have your $800 grocery bill down yet?

How is your daughter feeling(measels?) and did she go to the interview yet?

Thanks for sharing Kate. Retirement funds and all that are WAY over my head, but it's something I've made a mental note to learn more about in the near future. I'm learning so much about credit, credit scores, debt and budgeting that my brain can't handle much else at the moment. :) By the way, I am close to your daughter's age (I'll turn 28 in March) and I was unemployed for 11 awful months in 2009. I am now working as a receptionist (took the first job I could find after said 11 months) which only requires a high school diploma even though I graduated with my BA in Communications in December '08. *sigh* So I feel for your daughter and her struggles.

What a fabulous idea! I would love to participate in something like this, especially over lunch hour at work. That is wonderful.

iv_aingeal, I'm so glad you found a job and I'm sure this job is just a starting point and you'll find something better in the future!

I definitely understand that! I had many days where I felt lazy, worthless, unwanted, and so on. I had many days where I wondered why I "wasted my time" working so hard to finish my college degree. It's rough. Anyone who hasn't ever been unemployed or struggled to find/get a job really doesn't understand how hard it can be and how long it can take. I have learned a lot and will be more sensitive to other people in these situations in
