i payed off the first cc on my list this morning!!! yay! granted it was the small one (~800) but it feels great that there will be one less bill next month.

made possible by some extremely hard work by my dh and therefore some lovely overtime pay. for right now there's a lot of work coming in for him, which is great for the overtime pay (less great for his stress level and his ability to spend time with us). but we are on our first month of debt-busting and already down one bill.

i feel like i could just fly! thanks for all the support that you have given me. i know this is going to be a long battle, so yippee for the small victories!

That is awesome news! A victory is a victory, regardless of how small. I considered it a victory that TP was on sale for $4.98 and I had a coupon for $1.00 off lol.

Keep in mind how you feel right now, as motivation for later on when you might get discouraged with all the changes you are making in your life!

norma- my timeline for the next card is to pay it in full next month and we will have money leftover to start the 3rd one. the next one has a balance of about 2300, and with some additional overtime pay and our tax refund that one will bite the dust, too. then in april we will fully take on one of the BIG balances (~10,200), so we will be working on that one for the rest of the year. we will have to find a way to break that balance down into smaller goals to help keep us motivated.

thanks mary ann- i have definitely been giving him support for his hard overtime work. i will have to come up with a good weekend 'thank you' meal for him and see if we can get someone to sit for us to have a "date night" dinner at home this next weekend. i love that he's working so hard for us to get this off to a great start.

YAY! YAY! and again YAY! 1 down! That is huge!

And I know what you mean about working hard. It seems that sometimes me and my husband never see each, but I know that someday when I feel financially secure and I have a safety net and all my debt is gone, I will have a better life.
