I'm in no hurry, since (as I'd expected), we owe.

Well, at least you don't owe as much as you had originally thought!

I'm worried that I'm going to owe this year.

Well I'm glad its less then you thought. Thats a good thing (right???) I guess the good thing is you are expecting to pay back the tax credit so maybe you can try and put a little away each month for it?

I get my tax slip in a week so next week is tax time for me.

I'm thinking I should get that extra $ out ASAP, too.

I've considered putting the money aside from each pay myself, but don't quite trust myself enough to do so

It's always nice to get a refund rather than have to pay.

Well at least it's done, and early - WTG!
In my life (& profession) I know way too many people that leave it to the last moment & then end up missing something. I'm guilty of leaving it to the last minute a lot lol but I do the accounting and my Mother (accountant) files the actual taxes so she manages to catch little things that I don;t know about. (I am most definitely not a tax accountant!).

I did my taxes yesterday and I also have to pay, but less than last year. I think we usually have to pay somewhere between $2000 and $3000 total and it's usually 2/3 fed and 1/3 state. This year it's reversed. We only have to pay $154 fed and $1216 state.

YAY! Paying less this year, but it's because dh made less money. No bonus's for 2009 and no raise in at least the last 3 years. : ( boo

At least you know what the bill is & you don't have to pay it for a bit! We have owed every year in my recent memory and I always tried to get the taxes done early & mailed at the last second. This year we had some tax changes that greatly simplified things & I tried out turbotax. I'm impressed at how easy it is & we are actually getting money back! Plus it is a lot cheaper than the accountant. I am trying not to get excited until I actually see the refund but I already have a plan of what I'm going to pay off with it!
