... by not going back to lurking. Sorry, I'm really awful at actually joining in discussions - read everyday, but fail to reply to anything. So, in an effort to keep my morale up and not go back to the shadows, I thought I'd post an update.

I think you did quite well, you paid down on your CC, didn't go any further in to your OD. And you got yourself an outfit you can wear for fancy evenings out. Cup a soup for lunch is good, I myself will be having Mr. Noodle today. lol.

I do think you did well. Yes you went over budget - it happens, don't punish yourself over it!
Last year, we had gift cards to a huge mall so DH & I set out to buy clothes for his Cmas party. Ended up spending the $200 gift cards PLUS about 100 out of pocket. We were at Tommy Hillfiger and he got a suit that was "reduced" and I got a lovely "little black dress".
That $100 certainly wasn't in my budget at the time - but those 2 outfits have now seen us through 3 Chrsitmas parties, a funeral, and our anniversary night out. Sometimes, those little splurges end up being worth it in the end. (As longas you're not doing it all the time lol).

Good luck. The way I look at the dress is to make sure the "cost per wear" is low, lol. I splurged on a little black dress a few years ago in a classic style and it has worked for weddings, christmas parties, new years, etc etc. The cost per wear is probably around $10.

You can do this. Good luck!

Well hello, good to hear from you.

It sounds like you had a good January. At least you didn't charge the dress and shoes. I just bought black dress pants. I hope my cost per wear is fantastic as per Bex! I need a dress and shoes too but cannot bring myself to splurge on such items. I wear jeans and tops to work so I am pretty lucky. The only people I am jealous of is those people that wear scrubs to work. It looks so comfy!

The next event that comes up I may very well have to buy something and it is at the back of my mind. For now....I am off the hook.

Good luck with that overdraft!
