state tax flake

I am happy to report that I was able to flake $30 into our e-fund. We got the state refund portion of our taxes back today - a whopping $30 - and immediately flaked it into our e-fund. We still have plenty of debt to work on but this past year we have had to dip into our efund on a few occasions to take care of things around the house.
My sanity through my debt journey has been our efund. It is the one thing that actually allows me to sleep at night. Knowing that I have enough money for (almost) one month* of bill payments in the bank or to use for emergencies with the house - has let me feel more confident both as a homeowner and as person that I can do this debt repayment. I guess that is why they often call it a "security blanket"!
We should get our federal refund in the next week and that will all be flaked to paying off a major CC.
* yes I know that it should be 3-6 month of savings but I have to start where I am.

No, it should not be 3-6 months UNTIL CC debts are paid off.
Hi Norma,
I am glad to share my experience with you.
I declared Bankruptcy in July of 1999 and it stayed on my credit report until June of 2009. So the full ten years. I am shocked to realize that I am now drawing a blank
on if it was a Chapter 7 or a Chapter 13.
Thanks so much for sharing the info.

Norma,
When you talk about a trustee is that someone
appointed by the court when you filed or someone
from a consolidation agency?
"But the moral of my story is:
Liz
student loan paid off 2010
Bathroom remodel loan paid off 2013
Pending Car loan to be paid by the end of 2014!!!!!
Hi Norma,
To clarify what I didn't know this morning.....
I filed Chapter 7 - the reason was because I didn't own a home at the time. I think that if you are a homeowner then Chapter 13 is an option that is better because it positions you to make sure your home is secure (that you won't lose your home to pay off the debt) as long as you are making payments and are current.
I am not an expert at all on the differences between the two but this is what I remember from what I was told.
