This month is rough.
I had a wedding this past weekend already and it was expensive
Its my birthday and my oldest DS's birthday. He turns 13 today(wow). It is also Valentines day. I am taking DS for steak tonight, just the two of us which will be nice. I also bought him some t-shirts for a gift.
I wanted to do something nice for my bf for V-Day because he was so good to me at Christmas. I am buying him an office chair. His back gets sore when he works at his computer and has been talking about it so I know I can do this. Last year I made up coupons with little things on them and that was fun but I wanted to do a bit more this year.
I have also learned about a school camp and other school basket ball fees I need to come up with.
And at the end of Feb there is a mixed bonspiel I have already committed to go to. That will be expensive.
I have the cash for the dinner and some of the valentines present. Other than that I am fund flipping from future pay checks.
And this is the short month! and nothing has really gone wrong as far as emergencies. I just listed life. I hope March is better.
So this makes me think about Sarah's blog and all the excuses I just listed. If I opted out of a few of these things I could flake more or increase savings.
It is all very hard to find a balance isn't it?
How is your Feb looking?

My February has been OK.

Espensive for us, too.
Last week-end was a week-end away for us. Cash covered it, but it was still expensive. I will not be putting money into sinking funds this past pay to cover it. I'm okay with it, they are looking pretty good right now.
I decided today that I am going to suprise my husband with a date night on Saturday. Really, we need it. It's been so long. So, I am going to have to pay the sitter. We have gift certificates for the movies, so that won't cost. DH will probably want to go out to dinner. I think I might try to talk him into eating dinner at home and then splurging for coffee and desert to save some money. We will probably hit a store that evening to grab the girls some v-day presents. I am a mean Mom, I am going to get them some body wash and bubble bath. It's stuff they will need, but they will have fun opening it. We'll probably get them some treats, too ($5.00).
So, we had our fun last week-end, and we will treat ourselves well on Saturday. The rest of the month I need to stay in budget!!
Feb so far has been ok. I usually give my kids tokens fot v-day. I havewnt done that yet. I usually spend 5 - 10.$ / person. This year I'll stick to 5$ ea.
I was thinking of takin DH to a show 2mrw nite, haven't ought tix yet so I'll see. I just hope that nothing unexpected comes up.
Lets' see.....
We spent about $70 on our youngest's pizza dinner out with cake and ice cream for his birthday last week.

Sorry Feb has been so expensive. Mine is getting there, but I am hoping for a decent tax refund. Chin up, spring is coming!

Thankfully February won't be too bad...
Our younger niece has a birthday so that makes for one gift plus shipping. We're staying in for Valentine's Day and doing a cheap date night at the end of the month so that's a low expense.
Our daughter's birthday is at the end of the month (little stinker turns two) so some new toys/clothes for her plus making a cake will put a small dent in the budget.
Karen How did everybody know it was your b-day
Big Hug to you
Hope the year is wonderful for you, your bf and your boys
