As long as buying new socks and undewear didn't count.

I'm in the process of losing a LOT of weight this year. This if my year to get healthy and I have a few pairs of jeans in different sizes and a few shirts that I've kept, but besides that, I have nothing! I have a feeling I'll be needing to do some shopping this year. I will be doing it at the thrift shop though because I know that as I go down in clothings sizes, I won't be staying there long. I've already lost 7 pounds in the past 4 weeks so my clothes are starting to feel a little baggy!

LOL, I think I've been on this diet for the last few years!

Actually, I did have to buy some business attire last spring for work; used some of our tax refund for that, but have bought nothing since. So I'm coming up on a year. I do have to buy some socks and a couple of bras, though...

It is said that we wear only 20% of the clothing we own 80% of the time, anyway...

I already live like this. I don't buy it unless I need it. I hate shopping. I even borrow from friends for special events if I can.

Good luck everybody.

I could probably go one year without buying clothes for me, as long as I have sufficient pants to start with...I wear out the knees on all my pants due to 5 kids & dayhome!

Couldn't go a year without buying my kids clothes though! They grow too fast!

The one exception in the article was underwear.

I could go a year without buying new clothes, but I am an avid yardsale and thrift/charity shop shopper.
I have been known to participate in clothing exchanges with some success.
I have also borrowed or lent out fancy dresses for special functions.
I also like to "shop" in my daughters closet occasionally.

I can't remember the last time I bought "new" clothes. I buy from thrift shops to keep the costs down. I look for things that are decent quality at least so that it lasts. I even buy my kids clothes from thrift stores because I can buy them nicer brands of clothing for less than the cheap brands new. Nobody knows that I buy their clothes from the thrift shop and they get to look great.

And I only ever buy as needed. I probably shop for clothes twice a year, clearance items and thrift stores.
