I’m not sure if anyone noticed, but last week in our weekly accountability thread I posted that the cabinet in my dining room had collapsed and described how much I despise the furniture in there.

I agree. It's so good that you paid with cash. I think an eFund is important, but what about a "me-fund" as well. You can't deprive yourself of new things forever. You have the money and you still have money in your savings and to top it all, you have already figured out a very aggressive plan to pay your savings back in 4 months!!!

I am using a desk that I saved my money for and bought at Costco (when it used to be called "Price Club") around 1990!! It's pretty lame, golden oak with a keyboard tray, small pencil drawer and a big file drawer and then a big shelf piece that goes on top. ewwwww but it works and no one sees it but people who live here. My 12 yr old has a nicer desk than me and we got it for $100 at a used office furniture place. LOL!!!

kate- let it go and enjoy your new furniture, yay!

you did all the right things, paid cash, had a plan in place to repay the cash to your savings, waited until it was on sale and you got a good deal, and needed it.

congrats to you on a good purchase of furniture that you love and that will last you a long time. cheers!

Whatever the financial quandry KUDOZ to you for having a decent relationship with your ex husband.

How wonderful that you can exist in the same space with him for your daughter's sake.

My parents hated each other's guts forever. Now that my mom is 68 and VERY ill my dad helped my brother take her to the doctor and picked up a new washer for her and delivered it to her house and installed it. All this in the last month. After not standing in the same room with her for 30 years, except my wedding, my graduation, my brother's graduation and 1 funeral.

I'm always impressed when I hear people have a normal association with their ex.

It's nice to hear that you Dad is helping out your Mom during her time of need.

Admittedly, for the first 10 years after we seperated, I hated his guts.
